John Alden designed and built in 1967
LOA - 51 feet with LOD - 44 feet
Beam is 13' 6"
Twin Center Boards - 3'6" or 7' Draft
Ideal Bahamas or Caribbean Cruiser
Cutter rigged ketch with self tending staysail
55 hp NEW four cylinder diesel engine
Fuel tankage - 190 gallons diesel
Water tankage - 210 gallons fresh water
She is an Alden! Elegant, beautiful, robust. Truly a Proper Yacht in every
sense of the word. Tropical Delight was designed and built by John Alden
at their Newport yard (copies of original construction plans are included).
With her heavy Polyester/Coldmolded construction she is an immensely strong,
yet elegant yacht. She has circumnavigated five times under her two previous
owners and proved her absolute seaworthiness. Her centreboard configuration
(3’6” with boards up and 7’ with boards down) makes her absolutely ideal
for the Bahamas, Caribbean, and U.S. East Coast.
She is a very roomy 44 footer. With her centre cockpit she provides two
private sleeping areas which is perfect for a family. The owner’s stateroom
has a queen sized bed with innerspring mattress, an extra pilot berth,
hanging closet and a walk in navigation-room.
The forward cabin has two Pullman berths. The light and airy main saloon
contains the galley, rectangular settee, and head/shower. Lots of storage
room throughout and a walk around engine room.
She sails wonderfully upwind and down and makes an easy 7.5 knots under
diesel power at 1.3 gph.
After purchase, more than $84,000 was spent on a total refit at Savannah
over an 18 month period during the years of 2002 and 2003. She will be
well found.

Here is the cockpit complete with new upholstery, new hydraulics and new
auto pillot with fluxgate compase. Nothing lacking here! Simple elegance
and comfort for the complete family. Easy to sail and easy to live aboard.
You owe it to yourself to come and see this fine Lady! Luperon is not hard
to get to.
Captain... Here is your chart table and navigation station. Lay out your
course in comfort and sail her away! She is ready to sail and lusting for
the day her new Captain takes her back to sea. Don't miss out on this pretty
Lady!
Very pretty and very practical is the well appointed and well laid out
combination head and shower forward with entry from the main saloon or
from the forward cabin. Fitted with stainless steel and bronze. As you
can see there is plenty of storage both above and below.
We have this view of the Galley looking down from the cockpit showing the
deep stainless steel practical sink and the new three burner, gimballed
Princess propane stove with oven. Lots of open space here as well as lots
of storage.
All of the interior upholstery was replaced in 2004 and in the various
photos you can clearly see the elegant results. Matching curtains complete
the job with style! She is roomy and comfortable enough for a family and
privacy is retained with the double cabin layout. It appears that John
Alden thought of everything with this design!
The aft cabin features two berths with new innerspring mattresses, new
upholstery and plenty of storage space. Also, plenty of light and ventilation.
This ship lacks nothing for comfort and style! Just picture yourself and
your family cruising the Caribbean Sea in this fine Lady!
And here we have her engine shown after being professionally installed
in 2002. Lots of working room around this engine - a pleasure to maintain.
