For me it is perfect but then I have always loved the sunshine and the heat does not bother me like it bothers some. I am from Canada and I don't miss the ice or snow one little bit. But we do have rain here during the rainy season. At least I don't have to shovel the rain away! We have the threat of hurricanes although there has never been a hurricane that hit Luperón directly. We have the odd earthquake which can be a bit nerve wracking but even those become "old hat" after a period of time. We have some bugs here that I never saw in Canada but they pretty much leave me alone. However, I don't have to haul my boat out of the water every fall and put her back in every spring! In short, I love living and working in the tropics. Anyone considering this particular business opportunity must take living here into consideration as well. I won't be leaving. I enjoy boating year around and I enjoy being around boats and boaters. Every year there are more boaters "discovering" the Dominican Republic and I enjoy meeting and working with these people. Speaking of "Yachties" and boaters in general, this Bay here in Luperón is one of the most naturally protected "Hurricane Holes" in the whole of the Caribbean! The number of boaters staying here and spending the complete hurricane season keeps growing every year. It is not unusual to see well over one hundred yachts anchored in the Bay during the "Off Season" for boating and once the cruising season gets underway, feast your eyes on sometimes twice that number of yachts in the Bay! Wonderful boating country and becoming well known to more and more boating enthusiasts every year. And, of course, more boats here in the harbor means more people in the town! More people here in the town means more people deciding to stay here and make their homes here.
