1983 Bayfield 40 "Silent Running"
$75,000.00 - Now REDUCED to $69,000.00 - SOLD
Relaxing at Anchor...
Shown in this photograph resting peacefully at her anchor in Luperon Bay.
Most of you sailors out there will readily recognize the exquisite lines
of the Bayfield 40 boat. Very heavy construction and well proven as a good
sea boat. Even at forty feet the current owner has no problem single handing
"Silent Running" with her roller furling headsails. Her owner
has other interests now and has put her on the market at a most realistic
and very affordable price.
I have included here a copy of the factory line drawings for a better understanding
of her cabin layouts, her full keel and well protected rudder and propeller.
The owner has added a hard dodger that functions well but needs a little
cosmetic work to make it perfect. She handles well at sea with her various
sail arrangements. Sailing her single handed presents no problems and especially
with her strong hydraulic ram auto pilot tending the helm while you tend
to the sails! Nice privacy with the Port and Starboard Staterooms and unbelievable
living space for the entire family! The following photographs tell the
complete story. Sailors that know the Bayfield line of boats and especially
the Bayfield 40 are well aware of the superb strength of this vessel. And
"Silent Running has all of the Bayfield qualities and she is waiting
for her new family to care for her. Could be you!
This boat is Canadian built and designed by Ted Gozzard. A boat survey
was performed May 11 & 14, 2001 by John E. Marrocco , (Accredited Marine
Surveyor) of Ormand Beach, Florida and at that time he appraised the boat
as "average +" and as having a fair market value of $125,000
US. At that time he also set the replacement value at $300,000 US. The
current owner is asking $69,000 US which seems very realistic for a Bayfield
40 in her condition. This survey is available via E-mail to serious prospects.
The boat is currently lying in Luperon Harbor, Dominican Republic, and
if you are planning to cruise the Caribbean Sea then this is the ideal
place to start from. The difficult part has already been done for you!
There is no sales tax here so this is another big advantage. This boat
is fully equipped and comes with all the equipment and spares that you
might need to realize your cruising dreams! Bring your personal belongings
and move aboard.

Very comfortable Navigation Station set up with Garmin GPS, Kenwood Ham
Radio and VHF Radio all within easy reach. The Navigation Station is located
in a very convenient position of the Port Side adjacent to the companionway
stairs and just forward of the Port Side Stateroom. Has a comfortable and
strong padded chair.
The complete family will fall in love with this Galley with the tremendous
amount of working space and over abundance of storage units. Gimballed
propane stove with all of the proper safety shut off controls. This fine
Galley is located on the Port Side. Notice the beautiful joinery. Well
designed and very strong construction and well maintained. This boat will
definitely make you proud!
Here is a photo of the Hillerrange two burner propane stove with oven.
To the left of the stove is the large ice box which is fitted with an Adler
Barbour 12 Volt Cold Machine Ice Box air cooled conversion unit. Nice layout
with lots of space to work.
Looking Forward from the companionway steps we can see the large drop in
refrigerator on the port side just ahead of the Navigation Station and
before the stove. All the way forward you can see the head and on the starboard
side is the large and comfortable dinette. Lots of ventilation and ample
light makes Silent Running very livable.
Standing on deck and looking forward gives you an idea of the safety and
ease of sail handling and general deck work. The mainsail cover should
be replaced but the standing and running rigging are in great shape. Lots
of room to walk around. This deck is very solid and is completely watertight.
This photo was taken during sea trials in June 2004 with a client. As you
can see the cockpit is large and comfortable with plenty of protection
from the sun and spray. The vessel handles superbly and her autopilot takes
over in fine style when you are needed elsewhere! Silent Running is a fine
seaworthy boat.
